ABOUT US

What’s in a Name?

Started by a graduate of UGA’s Landscape Architecture program and self-proclaimed “plant nerd”, Beech & Boxwood is an homage to two plants that define the landscape of the American South. The American Beech is a huge hardwood tree found in the deciduous forests of North America. It is colloquially referred to as ‘Queen of the Forest’. It’s smooth, silver bark and lush, light-green foliage represent the untamed, free-flowing, and awe-inspiring beauty of untouched nature.

The American Boxwood is a plant seldom seen outside of a thoughtfully curated and well-cared for landscape. It’s beauty lies in the human touch that is applied to it by hedging, trimming, and pruning. Even though its deep green foliage is equally as beautiful as the light green of the Beech, it represents something different: the clean lines and perfect geometric shapes of a curated garden.

These two plants together form the intersection of mother nature and the styled garden. The success of a landscape design lies in the melding of these two extremes and success can often be gauged by the seamlessness of the transition. This seamlessness is orchestrated and maintained by the gardener. At Beech & Boxwood, we strive to smoothen this transition. We don’t want to just maintain your planters. We wish to guide your property through seasonal change and keep it fresh, new, and colorful with each turn of the season.

Beech & Boxwood was founded on the principles of preservation, restoration, and improvement. No property is perfect, but we strive to accomplish working perfection by focusing on and showcasing a collection of small details that make each property unique. We manage to curate small bits of fleeting perfection by highlighting different seasons of blooms, ensuring year-round plant interest, and accentuating the strong points of your home’s architecture to ensure a strong connection between built and natural.

Let’s work together to breathe color into your home!
